The University of York’s Research and Enterprise Directorate has a successful Research Development Team, who work across all three Faculties to support the University Research Strategy by building internal capability, seeking and fostering external partnerships, and managing a strong pipeline of large and strategically important research proposals. 

The Directorate is seeking an exceptional candidate who will undertake research development activities rooted in the discipline area of Information and Communication Technology, but who will also build interdisciplinary collaborations across all three faculties to facilitate creation of ground-breaking research and meet global challenges in new ways. You will also support the Research Champion for Risk, Evidence and Decision-Making in development of his interdisciplinary themes, helping shape and deliver his programme of activities.

Working closely with the Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research, Research Theme Champions and Faculty Associate Deans of Research, you will play a key part in developing strategic thinking within and across Faculties by identifying and building areas of strength at the University.  You will develop and maintain external relationships with funders and non-academic partners.  You will use your skills to build capacity in priority areas and to provide high-level operational support for significant external funding applications. You will have an excellent understanding of the motivations of academic researchers and be able to quickly establish your credibility and professionalism with world-class research teams and senior management.

You will have good analytical skills that enable you to understand the research funding landscape, our capabilities and our uniqueness.  You will have excellent communication and influencing skills and be able to bring diverse groups together. You will be resilient, enjoying managing a diverse workload, have a high degree of organisation and bring a positive attitude to team working.
