We have embarked upon an enhanced approach to our research commercialisation activities with the aim of enhancing the development of our Intellectual Property (IP) in support of innovation and wider impact activities in line with the ambitions of the University’s Strategic Plan. As well as creating income from activities such as spin-out companies and commercial licensing, we believe that broader development of our IP will offer more scope for us to address key university ambitions.

The role of Research Commercialisation Support Manager will provide end-to-end support in relation to the process of research commercialisation. You will provide effective support, advice and guidance to key stakeholders to ensure the most appropriate commercialisation pathway for their research outputs, e.g. spin out company creation, licensing, shareholding and associated contracts, undertaking the appropriate compliance and diligence.

The postholder will have a breadth of experience in working to support research and commercial activities and a good understanding of methods of commercialisation and protection.  You should have excellent external commercial support networks, be able to clearly demonstrate your significant commercial acumen supported by thorough analysis of market-based research to identify market opportunity and scope. You will be an energetic and confident professional with excellent communication skills, able to effectively communicate at all levels and will have knowledge of the Higher Education sector and the funding and external commercial support landscape.
