Salary: £37,083 - £52,800
Location: Coventry University
Coventry University provides support and expertise to a range of businesses through its focus on research with impact, and the Enterprise & Innovation Group is at the heart of this commercial activity. We collaborate and help our partners to identify funding opportunities, exploit new revenue streams, and manage their IP portfolio.
As part of our strategic relationship with HORIBA MIRA, we are establishing a joint Centre for Connected & Autonomous Automotive Research at the HORIBA MIRA site in Nuneaton, Warwickshire. Drawing on the expertise of HORIBA MIRA and Coventry University staff, the Centre represents a critical strategic opportunity to establish and secure niche dominance in the rapidly expanding Intelligent Mobility sector. The Centre operations will focus initially on the increasingly significant segment of intelligent, connected and autonomous vehicles, and allow a concentration of research, development, innovation and skills/training activity to support the future development of this growing market.
Fuelled by the growth of the University and its continued success, this is a challenging commercial environment where working with cutting-edge research and high value partnerships brings something new every day. You’ll need to be driven, ambitious and hands on in this exciting new role, where you will identify and nurture strategic industry-academic partnerships, both on behalf of the Centre and colleagues across the University working in related fields. With experience in a B2B environment, a focus on results-driven outcomes and a knack for building long-lasting relationships, you’ll bring enthusiasm, energy and a successful history of generating growth.
Responsible for identifying opportunities and developing subsequent proposals, you will produce high value commercial and grant funding submissions, with and on behalf of the Centre for Connected & Autonomous Automotive Research colleagues. With a joint focus on increasing the income-generation of the University Group and HORIBA MIRA, and securing public funding and commercial income, you will work closely with the Senior Centre team to manage the process of individual bids (including peer reviews and pricing strategies).
You will take an active role in supporting the development of the Centre’s strategic activity, identifying opportunities for business proposals and creating briefing papers on key relevant policy and funding developments. Taking ownership of relationships with external funders and strategic partners within the sector, you will attend events and conferences, and support staff with building project consortia – forming links with international networks in research, enterprise and innovation communities on behalf of the Centre.
To be part of our growing team, you will need to have a degree or equivalent qualification, alongside a successful track record in bid writing and a detailed knowledge of sources of funding for both public and private sectors. Knowledge of the automotive sector, intelligent and autonomous vehicle technologies, and the emerging funding landscape for transport innovation would be advantageous. You will have excellent presentation skills and will be able to display information clearly to enable colleagues and partners to make the most of the support available through funding opportunities.
